A month after my son was born, our dog had a litter of puppies. My favorite I named firewall, a happy little ball of energy. I ended up giving her to the neighbors, whose kids loved her. She grew up in a house down the hill from us and across the dirt road with milk cows and many children.

Firewall learned to be great with small children as that is who she was around much of the time. She also got nice and strong with a regular intake of milk from the cows that the household owned.
Recently, the family moved away and left firewall to fend for herself. She knew exactly where to come to ask for help. We have taken our puppy (full sized now but still only a year old) back in. She is SO good with Zechariah, and is very protective of our house. She is a wonderful dog and we are so happy to have her back (espe ially myself as she had been my favorite from the litter)!
