Joshua 1:9 NKJV
[9] Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Here we see that we are not only supposed to have courage in the Lord but we should not be dismayed: meaning troubled or dismayed. We come to the Lord and he helps us.

Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
[10] Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’

Again in Isaiah, the Lord is saying nearly the same thing. We are not to be troubled and discouraged. Why? Because the Lord is with us, He will strengthen and help us. He will uphold us.
When the Bible refers to the right hand it refers to purity and legally binding agreements as the right hand was used to shake hands in pledge in those days. God will hold his people up and there is no question that he will carry through on his promise.

Isaiah 43:2:
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”

Here, the Lord is promising that even though we go through troubles they will not overcome us. Because we are in Him, he protects us!

John 14:18
“If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, you are mine, so the world hates you, because you do not belong to the world. Therefore, the world cannot know you, because it does not know me. But you know me because I have always lived among you.”

We look different than the world does. It makes the world uncomfortable when we look different. We are the light at being close to darkness pressures the darkness to flee or to change. If we are loved by everyone all the time we must evaluate whether we look like the world or if we are actually standing for the Lord in our decisions and actions.

Psalms 27:10 NKJV
[10] When my father and my mother forsake me, Then the Lord will take care of me.

God will never forsake you.

John 16:33:
“I have told you these things so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart; I have overcome the world”.

Jesus already told us how to walk in his ways so we may have peace. We are overcomers through him and in him!

Proverbs 3:5-6:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight”

If we want the Lord to make our paths straight, we must acknowledge him (some versions say submit to him) in ALL of our ways. We cannot have some things the Lord oversees and other things that belong to us.

If we had a land manager over our one acre field but we told him he only had authority to take care of one plot of it, that plot would produce but we would not get nearly the maize and beans we could get using the entirety of the field! We must give Jesus all!
